Hello Mike,
Thanks for your post on the Brackenboats site.
I administer the site on Peter’s behalf.
Unfortunately, Pete did not keep too many records: he was too busy building boats! He built 150 in 30 years.
When he closed shop he threw away what little records he had so the history of many of his creations is difficult to find.
What is certain is that T&T was definitely an early build by Peter in the mid 1960s (she has no flybridge, which most of his later builds had but the hull is a dead giveaway) and has been well maintained and upgraded over the years.
It has been claimed that she was formally Tennessee II, owned by Bob Dyer and his wife Dolly. This is definitely untrue. Tennessee II was almost certainly built by Halvorsens. It is possible that Bob and Dolly may have spent some time on board after they moved to Queensland but they were not owners as far as can be ascertained.
I own a 36 ft Bracken built in 1972 and can attest to the quality of the Bracken build. Time and Tide looks like a great older style boat that has undergone significant upgrades and if this is what you are looking for she fills the bill. Have a marine survey done before you commit. It’s worth the money.
Please let me know if you purchase.
Cheers,
Mike Cusack
Hi Mike, just a quick comment on Time & Tide.
My wife and I own her now and she is currently lying at Empire Marina at Bobbin head.
We trucked her up from Paynesville in Victoria where she live for a short while.
Whilst she was in pretty good condition for her age, 1964, we have carried our further restoration works to bring her back to even better condition.
She is a fabulous vessel with many more years left in her, a testament to how Peter constructed her in the first place.
Just thought you’d like to know.
Ron.
Hi Ron,I was having lunch at the marina a few weeks ago and I saw her down there; even took a few pictures. She’s looking extremely well for her age!I got my boat from Paynesville as well. A few of Peter’s boats seem to have ended up down there. Thanks for the post.
I am looking at purchasing Time and Tide and would appreciate her history.
Thank you.
Mike Stennett.
