Adamarie was launched on 1st March, 1972 at the boat ramp next to Tom Ugly’s Bridge on the George’s River. She was built for Mr. Ronald James Rankin, who lived in Avalon or Clareville at Pittwater. His occupation is listed in the electoral roll as ‘investor’. Ron Rankin was born in 1910 so he would have been in his early 60s at the time.Ron said that the boat was named after his mother Ada and his wife Marie. He had ordered the boat the previous year and Peter said it was most unusual that he did not see him again until she was completed, as most owners visited at various stages of construction. It is even uncertain if the owner attended the launch at Tom Ugly’s as Peter and his boatshed crew delivered Adamarie to Broken Bay about 10 days after the launch date. Ron Rankin died in 1985.
Adamarie is currently owned by David Schweiger of Yorke Removals. www.yorkeremovals.com.au
Under David’s ownership Adamarie has undergone extensive renovation and restoration at Paynesville Shipyard in 2014.

I purchased adamarie from cottage point boatyard , can’t remember the date, had a bit of work done at the yard before spending 2 weeks cruising the Hawkesbury , before bringing her up to her home in Brisbane at Royal Queensland yacht squadron. I had her for approx 4 years and sold her to a guy named lorrie where he took her down to Victoria mainly for bird watching, the last I heard lorrie passed away and a yacht broker called and wanted to know if I would like to buy her back. Adamarie was a great boat sorry I sold her.
I believe you may have bought her from my uncle, Ian Lyon. I worked at Cottage Point in the early 90’s, hence him listing it there. She underwent an interior refit around then. Spent most of that time at Akuna bay. I could let you know more by getting you in contact with him.
