Alveron was built in 1965 for Mr Jim Batty who owned an Engineering business in Arncliffe. It was one of the early launches built shortly after Peter moved into his own premises at Ward Street Kurnell.
She has recently been purchased by new owner, Dr Peter Hupfauf who has completed some renovations. Dr Hupfauf commented that “As a retired designer, I can say that Alveron is pleasing to the eye and functions very well for its purpose as a pleasure craft. Peter did an excellent job with this boat.”
Alveron’s details are:
Length 29.5 ft
Beam 9.85 ft
Draft 3.6 ft
Carvel planked hull Oregon, hardwood ribs and stringers. Decks are plywood with sheathing, cabin sides are teak with western red cedar lining. Finish inside is Queensland maple, ash, coachwood and teak. Engine Volvo 30 hp diesel. 235 watt solar panel with outback controller supplying power to the batteries.
When I was looking for a boat a few years ago, Alveron was the first Bracken that I saw. I wanted something bigger than her but was so taken with Alveron’s beautiful lines that after that I only looked at Bracken built boats, eventually buying the 36 footer Kalizma which was built in 1972.
